Dawn Burks, Dunn House Program Manager

Dawn Burks, Dunn House Shelter Program Manager, began her career with Community Works as a HelpLine volunteer in 2009 and joined the staff in 2011.

Dawn treasures time with her family and loves exploring the outdoors and the Oregon Coast. Dawn is involved in this work because she believes being free from fear and abuse is a basic human right. She is passionate about helping abused people regain their voice, their power, and their self-worth. Dawn is honored to bear witness to survivors’ stories and to share in their triumphs. Dawn says, “I am renewed by the generosity of the community. Many survivors have been told they are worthless. In time, they believe it. When a survivor feels their community rally around them, they realize they have value.”
